Happy 5th Anniversary!

Since we were at Landon's Ironman, surrounded by all our friends and family, on our actual anniversary last Saturday, Landon and I decided to celebrate our 5 years together last Wednesday evening.  We decided not to exchange gifts this year, but he told me he had reservations somewhere for dinner that night.  We talked for a few minutes on our way home from work and he asked if I wanted to go for a short walk, and maybe even take the dogs, before dinner, which sounded perfect to me.  So, that's just what we did.  It was actually a nice evening out and we enjoyed just walking and talking, heading towards one of the lakes near our house that he always rides by on his bike rides.  We walked to the lake and as we were standing there, I noticed this picnic basket leaning against a tree.  I told Landon "Look, someone has the exact same picnic basket as us!  Isn't that crazy?  I wonder of they just left it there?"  And I didn't give it a second thought, other than thinking that it would be fun to go on a picnic one day.  And then, I looked back at Landon and he was just laughing.  And then, finally, it dawned on me that the picnic basket wasn't just the exact same kind as ours, it was ours. :)

He had gone by Carabba's on his way home because their eggplant parmesan is one of my favorite meals of all time, and packed up a super yummy picnic basket.  We had salad, bread, our eggplant parmesan and lasagne, some snapple to drink and some candies for dessert.  And, he even thought to bring a tablecloth. :)
It was pretty much the perfect night.  We sat and talked and ate and just hung out.  And, I was thinking we were going to have to go home and get dressed up for dinner, which is harder now since all of like 2 dressy things still fit, ha! So, it was a nice surprise to have a sweet picnic meal in the park with my best friend instead.  It just seemed right and seemed to fit our life right now.
I love this guy so much.
Thank you babe, for a perfect 5 year anniversary celebration night.  And thank you for the last 5 years.  I've learned so much about you, about me, about God, about relationships and sticking things out and forgiving and loving and respecting and putting other people before yourself, just from being married to you.  I wouldn't trade the last 5 years for anything.
