32 weeks

This week Aedan is almost four pounds and somewhere around 19 inches long--which I guess explains why I can sometimes feel him kicking and moving on both sides of my stomach and why it feels like some part of his body (I'm hoping his little feet) are always up in the right sides of my ribs.  And, this week the coolest thing I read is that his skin is no longer see through, so he looks like a real little human baby. :)

We're down to going to the doctor every 2 weeks now and after this appointment, we switch to going every week!  Crazy--I feel like he's going to be here before we know it!  At this next appointment Landon's taking a long lunch and coming with me, so our doctor is going to do a little sonogram for us, which I'm really excited about for some reason.  I think I'm just getting antsy to meet him and the sonogram is the next best thing.  I just want to see him again and see how he's hanging out in my stomach, getting ready to make his debut. :)

This week, I've started to really feel pregnant.  I still don't have any real complaints or pain, but I'm just starting to feel huge.  Things like getting up from sitting on the couch or the floor or bending down to tie my shoe are just getting a little harder.  I feel more out of breath, sometimes just from talking or reading a story out loud to my students.  And when I stand/walk for a long time (hello, week long TAKS testing!), my feet and back start to ache a little.  Things like that.  But, overall life is still good.  And even though there are times when I want to complain a little (even just to myself) about the discomfort that can come from being pregnant and having this little baby moving and kicking inside of me, making me feel like I can't breathe or that I have to go to the bathroom every 30 seconds, I think about the fact that it's our son I have the privilege of carrying and how much of a blessing it is that God gave us this little baby and that he is healthy and growing--and it's only for a short season that I'll be pregnant, so I need to enjoy it, discomforts and all. :)

Sweet Reese Madison

This weekend we went up to DFW to meet Blake and Morgans little 2 week old baby girl (and to take our maternity pictures) and we are in love.  She is so sweet and cuddly and a perfect future wife for Aedan! :)
We had such a fun weekend just hanging out and doing nothing and holding little Reese as much as we could.  And, it was fun seeing Blake and Morgan as parents--it makes me want Aedan to hurry up and get here, though I'm trying really hard to not wish away these last few weeks that L and I have together just as us, because I know once he comes, life will never again be like it is right now, which is a crazy thought to me.

Daddy and daughter
precious, precious Reese

such sweet little baby fingers :)
She would just curl her little legs up when you held her and sleep so sweetly.  I love it.

I love this face, ha! :)

I am so lucky to have married a man who is going to be such a wonderful Daddy to our little boy. I can't wait to see them together.
We love you already, little Reese!  We can't wait to see you (and your parents) again in a few weeks!!

Our little guard dogs

Just in case you were thinking about sneaking in to our house, meet our two guard dogs.

But really, they're not fooling anyone.  They're just two sweet and cuddly dogs who like to bark. :)

Ranch Weekend

Last weekend, some of our friends, Matt and Jenna, invited us up to her family's ranch house in the hill country for the weekend.  We had such a fun time just relaxing, hanging out with friends and escaping from life for a few days.
Landon and I started the days off with a little exercise (though I think his 3 hour bike ride counts more than my 45 minute walk :)).  The weather and the scenery were beautiful though--I am wishing we had some of that cool weather in Houston right about now!

Then, we spent a lot of time relaxing and just hanging out with friends,
and cooking and eating yummy meals.  Isn't it funny how schedules in vacations tend to get planned around meals?
Saturday morning, after an awesome breakfast, we headed out on four wheelers (and the Ranger for the pregnant girls and their husbands :)) for Matt and Jenna's guided tour through the HUGE property.  It was gorgeous--and fun riding around in the ranger/four wheelers!  We saw some animals, got out and walked around a little, took a few group shots, skipped a few rocks.  You know, the usual. :)

After the ride through the property, the guys and some of the girls went our shooting.  I opted to stay back at the ranch house with Wendi and Brittnie, where we spent a lovely 2 hours just rocking in the rocking chairs on the porch and talking.  I might have gone with them, but we'd been reading that Aedan can hear everything now and we didn't think there was any need to have him right around those loud guns.  Plus, sitting and talking seemed a lot more fun to me. :)

However, everyone that went out shooting seemed to have a lot of fun!

Later that afternoon I ended up going down for a few minutes to see where they were shooting, because they were doing a different kind of shooting that wasn't so loud.  After everyone had a chance to shoot that kind of gun though, Ben pulled out his little gun.  And, it was crazy because of the five or six times he shot it with me standing there, Aedan kicked me right after three or four of them.  I have no doubt he could hear it--and it made me feel kinda bad for being down there, like it was making him jump each time.  After I felt him kicking like that, Landon brought me back to the ranch house to hang out.  It's so amazing to me how he can be inside of me but still hear everything.  And, it's crazy how protective it made both Landon and I feel.  I can oly imagine what it'll be like when he's here in our arms and not in my belly!

After I left, Landon shot some more too--he did awesome at all the shooting games they did this weekend. :)
Then, that night, we loaded up in the truck and rode around looking for wild hogs (or any other animal). Unfortunately though, we saw nothing.  Oh well.
Apparently though, his is how Brandon dresses when he's going to look for wild hogs!

The next morning, after a leisurely pancake breakfast and some last shooting games and four wheeler rides for the guys, we packed up, stopped for some delicious mexican food and hit the road.  Back to reality...
Thanks for a fun weekend, Matt and Jenna! :)

And, this is as close as I got last week to taking a 31 week picture.  Everything still going well--I still feel him moving around and kicking like crazy.  The newest development though is that I'm HOT all the time--which is so unlike me, because normally I'm always freezing.  Now, I'll wake up in the middle of the night burning up  and look over and see Landon all under layers of blankets.  So fun, ha!  But, totally worth it for the sweet little boy we're 9 weeks away from meeting!
