New Possibilities

Out of the blue, a couple of weeks ago, an opportunity presented itself.

An oil and gas firm, Lebanowski and Associates, called Landon in for an interview.

We were rocking along, perfectly happy. He was doing his own law firm thing, doing mostly CPS work and some oil and gas work on the side, but we figured he might as well see what it was about. We didn't want to get out hopes up, but it sounded like a good opportunity, so we went in for the interview the Friday morning before his half-Ironman in Galveston.

It lasted every bit of 3 and a half hours, but he really liked the people he met and they seemed to like him. And, to make a long story short, early the next week he was offered a position. And accepted it. So, he's spent the last two weeks wrapping things up with his (now former) clients from his CPS practice out in Conroe and settling everything with the judge out there, preparing to transition to this next phase in his career.

While he's giving away some freedom and autonomy by not working for himself anymore, and while Ironman training is going to be pretty brutal since the work hours will be less flexible (as in, not flexible at all really!), we really feel like it's a move in the right direction for us. It's a medium size firm that's been around for a while, so it's pretty well established--and made it through the oil and gas crisis last year, which is definitely a good sign. It plants us in Houston for good--or at least for now. It's steady, stable money and he likes all the people he's met so far, a lot of whom have been there a while, which we took as a good sign. And, he'll have co-workers again, which will be nice. Overall, I think it'll be a good move.

We're still adjusting to the idea of him having a 9-5 office lawyer job, but I'm praying he'll love it!
