Signs of Spring

Today was one of those lovely Saturdays that we try to block out at least once a month where we don't have anything we HAVE to do--we got to sleep in a little and just do things around the house and yard that we've been wanting/needing to.

One of those things was that Landon woke up before me and took my car to get washed--I felt so loved when I got in it to go run some errands this afternoon and saw how clean and shiny it was. Thanks babe!

Also, I got to work a little in the yard because the weather was so beautiful. It was a little warm but cloudy--pretty much perfect.

So, I thought I'd give a little plant update:

I'll give you the bad news first, haha. I am sad to report that the flowers I planted in my potter for my kitchen windowsill bit the bullet today.

After talking to the guy at the nursery today, I figured out that I planted too many flowers in there and they weren't getting enough sunlight. He recommended these and I'm praying that they do better! :)

Because I could only plant these two in the kitchen, we worked in one of our flowerbeds today and planted the others. I'm hoping that they don't get whatever bug ours got last year because they look so pretty out there right now.

On to the good stuff. :) One of my three herbs has sprouted (not quite sure which one--I guess I should have labeled them!). Hopefully the other two will sprout soon too!

And...three weeks after I planted them...my tomato and bell pepper plants are still alive (YAY!!) and the pepper plants even have two little baby peppers starting to grow! I am SO excited--probably more excited than I should be, but considering that all of our plants from last year (aside from the rose bushes) died after about two weeks, this is progress! I also bought some basil to add to the mix and was able to pull off some leaves and use them in our dinner tonight. For some reason, that makes me really happy.

See the two little baby peppers growing on the plant on the right??

Yum--sweet basil leaves :)

I love watching everything begin to bloom this time of year--and am thrilled that finally some things in our yard are blooming also!

The white rose bush has a ton of buds, but the yellow ones are starting to open first!

Happy Spring!
