Disney Vacation Part One: Magic Kingdom

In honor of the fact this this weekend exactly a year ago Landon and I ran our first race--the Houston Half Marathon-- I thought today would be a good day to tell the story of our trip to Disney to compete in the Goofy Challenge.

We arrived at the Music All Star Resort in Disney Land Wednesday night via the Disney Magical Express (I love it! :)), ready to explore Disney. When we got to our room, we found these cute towel animals---

the two "lovebirds"--because they thought we were celebrating our anniversary that week--so we went with it...

Thursday morning we got up bright and early and headed over to the Magic Kingdom. We'd both been there once about a decade ago, so parts of it were familiar, but a lot of it felt brand new, which was fun to experience together.

outside the front gates

it was all still decorated for Christmas, which was SO cool

We started the day by hitting some of the rides before the lines got long--Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear. So fun--and there were practically no lines, which was also awesome.

Then, we walked back over to the castle which, I don't care how old you are, is so cool--though I was decidedly more enamored with it than Landon, haha!

From there we headed back over to the Main Street Bakery, per the recommendation of someone we met on the bus over there--and Landon tried one of their famous cinnamon rolls. YUM.

And then it was back out the explore the parks for the rest of the day!

exploring the caves on Huck Finn's island

We kept trying on Goofy hats--trying to find one that we could wear during the races. We finally decided on the last ones!

Then, we stumbled upon the Move It, Shake It street party, which was quite possibly one of my favorite parts of the day. It brought a smile to my face and kinda made me fall in love with Disney World.

Then, it was back to the rides...

The teacups were so much fun--Landon had them spinning so fast, I could barely walk when we got out!

Luckily Dumbo was much more relaxing. :)

Pooh and Tigger!

We also caught another parade and got to see a ton of characters--I loved it.

It's a Small World was the last ride we went on before getting some dinner and staking out a spot for the last parade and the fireworks show--we might have been on it before, but neither of us remembered it, so it was fun to see again.

The castle at night, when they turned all the Christmas lights on, was beautiful!

So was the lights parade!

But, the fireworks show at the end of the night totally took the cake--I'd been looking forward to it since we signed up for the race last January and it did not disappoint!

It was a wonderful day with my wonderful husband--we felt so lucky to have the opportunity to be there!
