And tonight, as I'm lying in bed in a dark house, able to hear both the dishwasher and washing machine and dryer going, while I'm lying here beside my husband, I was reminded of simple pleasures, because this is definitely one of mine. I love the quiet of the end of the day, listening to all the work being done without me having to do it. :)
And that got me thinking about all those other simple pleasures in my life.
Hearing the song you've really been wanting to hear on the radio
holding a baby

Waking up an hour before your alarm goes off, thinking it's time to get up, and then realizing you can go back to bed
Getting a note or email or phone call from a friend
Walking into a clean kitchen

random emails from Landon just to say hi
being finished with a hard run/workout

checking things off my never ending to do list
remembering to take out the recycling
taking a picture that I love
summer
mopped hardwood floors--even though it's usually me that mopped them :)
honest conversation
trying out new restaurants in our area
finding out that something you love is now on sale
watching 24 with Landon on Monday nights
our dogs meeting us at the back fence as soon as we pull into the driveway

using my Disney mug for coffee at work and reminiscing about our trip
realizing that something you were worried about turned out well
a Saturday with no plans and the option to sleep in
Chinese food
authentic learning going on in my classroom
nights filled with laughter

someone trusting me with a part of their life story
reading my Bible before I go to bed and knowing I am on schedule to finish it this year
being all caught up on the laundry
decorating the Christmas tree

using all the food in the refrigerator so that none of it goes bad
trying a new recipe that turns out great
old students coming back to visit
Fridays :)
It really is the little things in life. What are some of your simple pleasures?
