A week ago Thursday, we joined the mortgage club and bought our first house! :) We signed all of the papers on Thursday afternoon, but the funding wasn't going to go through until Friday morning, so we weren't expecting to be able to get in to the house until then. However, the previous owners were super sweet (and really trusting!) and went ahead and gave us the keys that night.
So, we jumped in our car and headed over! Landon picked me up and carried me in (such a romantic :)) and we spent a few minutes marveling at the fact that the house was ours!
Then, reality hit and we spent the next five hours or so cleaning everything. And, Landon's mom was so sweet to drop by and bring us some flowers and some food, which was a nice treat.

We both took off work on Friday, so we loaded up both of our vehicles and headed over to the new house that morning, for a day filled with some more cleaning and painting a couple of rooms. While I'm glad we didn't have to paint the whole house, it was fun painting a couple because it made it feel like ours.
Then, that night some of our sweet friends came over to hang out and help us clean--it was much appreciated!
Around midnight, we finally headed home for one last night in our old house. It was a weird feeling, as we lay in bed, with the house all packed up, trying to imagine living in a new house, because, even with it all in boxes, this house still was just...home.And then, before we knew it, moving day had arrived and the loading of the u-haul had begun.
I got a little choked up watching Landon drive away from our house in the u-haul, but I just told myself to focus on being excited about the new house and the future. :) It was a weird moment though.
And then, in a matter of a couple of hours, all of our belongings were unloaded into our new house, thanks to our awesome friends and family. It took WAY less time to unload than to load it up, which was a nice surprise!
And, Landon's mom and sister were so sweet to do a Chick-Fil-A run to get us lunch--there was a lot of food!
They had to take the doors of the refrigerator and the door of the house off to get the refrigerator inside--fun times, ha!The dogs wore themselves out, running around in their new backyard. :)
By the time the last of our friends and family left, the furniture was in the rooms and the kitchen was all set up. We are so lucky to have such good friends. And, I was SO grateful to have the kitchen all unpacked. When the kitchen's in order, it just feels like I can function better. I don't know why.
Sunday after church, we headed back to our old house to do a final deep cleaning--we mowed and fixed up the yard and then cleaned the whole house. And, we had to pull up my garden--actually, Landon had to do it while I was inside, because it made me too sad to watch, ha! But, I did get to pick some peppers and eggplant and basil that were ready to be picked. So, that was fun at least. :)
Before we left for the last time, Landon said a prayer, thanking God for all the good times and for all the blessings in our life and in this house (and, of course, I cried, ha!). It was a good way to leave though. I am so thankful for Landon and his wisdom and leadership in our family.
And with that, we climbed into the (fully packed) truck and headed off to our new home!
