This past Sunday Landon and I were blessed by the sweetest shower at our church. It was hosted by a group of some of our close friends and was just perfect. The table was SO cute--and it had a bunch of my favorite foods and drinks--so thoughtful!
It was basically everything little boy. :)

We saw them with some grass earlier in the day and weren't sure what it would turn out to be, but it turned out so cute. There was a little track with Landon's baby shoes and a tree where people wrote blessings for Aedan and hung them. I love it.
We seriously have the most talented, creative friends. One of our friends, Jenna, makes these awesome cookies called tea cakes and decorates them AMAZINGLY. They are SO precious. Our other friend, Cynthia, makes the most beautiful cakes, as shown below. She matched it to our bedding. :) I'm jealous of their skills, ha!

Seriously though, the best part was all the people that came to help us celebrate our sweet boy. There were over 50 people that signed in, and probably some I missed completely--we were blown away and completely humbled by all the people that already care about our little baby.
Cynthia and Kelly, sweet friends who both just had little baby boys
Landon's Aunt Avis and Aunt Beth and cousin Doni
my sweet mom and I at the beginning of the shower
Showers are so funny--some people watch you open the presents, but most just sit around and talk! :)
some sweet ladies from the church

Katie and Emily, more sweet friends
five of our hostesses and precious friends, Kaleena, Becky, Jenna, Brittnie and Wendi
Kenna and I, who flew down for the shower (and took most of these pictures for me!--thanks Kenna!!)

Pam and Beth, one of her good friends (and the mother of one of Landon's good friends :))
After the sweetest blessing and prayer from Lee and Kayla, it was time to open presents!
Thank Jenna, for writing it all down for us!
We really haven't bought much for him yet , so it was so fun to see all these tiny little baby things and imagine them on our baby. Crazy. :)

The shower pretty much flew by because all I felt like I did was open presents! I got to talk to a few people and wave to a few people, but missed a lot of them I'm sure!
Then, before I knew it, it was a little before four and Landon and my dad were there to say hi to everyone and help load up the presents.
Except, he walked in with a huge box, which I should have expected from my husband.
The only real necessity that we didn't get from our showers was the travel system, with the car seat and stroller. So, he and my dad swung by Babies R Us on the way to the shower and bought it!
For some reason, getting the stroller/car seat was really exciting to me. It makes it all seem official. :)

And, with that and some thank yous that didn't seem to be able to do justice to how blessed we felt, it was over. And, the husbands of our friends started to show up and eat the leftover food--and maybe help take things down.
Lee and I, my mentor from the RENEW class I took at church and a sweet, wise person. She gave us and Aedan and wonderful blessing.

Jamie, one of my best friends from middle school and high school. We both live in Houston again, but don't hardly ever get to see each other, so it was so fun of her to come!

Us and all of the hostesses, minus Tiffany and Keleena who had to leave earlier and Pam, who couldn't make it. We are SO blessed by their friendship.
Aedan's grandmothers and I
Landon and I and our sweet parents (minus his dad)
We were so glad to have them there to help celebrate and can't wait for Aedan to meet his grandparents!
After the shower, we loaded everything up in our truck and my parent's Yukon and hauled it back to the house. Then, after dinner with them at the Olive Garden, we spent the rest of the evening going through all of our little boy's new things. First Landon put together the stroller and car seat. So exciting! And, I'm glad he was there to do it, because I expected to pull it out of the box and it all be ready to go, and it surely was not!

Then, it was like the shower all over again, except this time L got to pull things out of the boxes/bags and I began hanging up all his sweet little clothes. It was just as fun the second time, and fun to see it all with Landon.

Looks like it was a wonderful shower. You got quite the loot!! :) So sorry to miss it...can't wait to get together soon.
ReplyDeleteAJA! Wow...what an exciting post! I loved looking at all of your pictures, and it brought back a ton of memories of those weeks before Cailyn was born and going through all of our new baby stuff. Isn't it such a wonderful time?! Praying for you guys! So glad you were showered with fun stuff for Aedan!
