Faithful. Always.

I just wanted to give a quick update about something I haven't blogged about yet, because it is such a testament to God's goodness and care.

About 2 weeks ago, Landon's company, where he was an oil and gas attorney, had a meeting where they were told that probably around mid-April their major client would stop drilling for a while, because of the economy. So there wouldn't be any work for them for a while. While we were bummed, we were feeling OK because that gave him about 2 months to look for a new place of employment.

Then, the next day he and his co-workers got called in for another meeting and were told that as of THAT day, there was no more work for the moment. Change of plans, I guess. They still had a job, there was just no work. Which meant that, for the time being, until the client began drilling again (which will happen, they just don't know when), their last paycheck would be paid out on Tuesday, March 17th. Tomorrow.

So, he decided that the best thing to do would be to begin applying for other jobs and see what was out there, because he wasn't sure if he would even want to go back to work for this company once there was work again, for fear of being in this same situation again due to the unstable nature of the oil and gas industry right now.

So, he began the work of searching for jobs, sending our resumes, applying online, going to interviews. Not fun. Especially in our economy. And especially when you think you have a secure job one day and then you don't the next. And it hurts my heart to know that so many people are in that position today, both in our country and around the world.

So, we've been praying and asking for guidance and reminding ourselves of how faithful God has been in the past and remembering how he was faithful to provide jobs before and asking for faith where we were lacking. And I have been blown away by my husband's faith and prayers in this situation. It made me fall in love with him even more.

And as of today, he has a new job, at another law firm. His last paycheck comes in tomorrow. And he begins his new job on Wednesday. God is SO good. And I am so grateful for the lessons he teaches us about trust. I am thankful for the hard times that shake us out of coasting along in life, when all is going well. And I am thankful that, this time, the hard times, the times of waiting and wondering what God's plan is, were not too long.

Thank you for holding our lives in your hands and for the situations that help us to see that and draw closer to you. We praise you for your faithfulness and goodness and for caring about the big things and the small things.

  1. Aja, that is such a blessing! I lost my job in November, and it is such a scary thing. The Lord is so faithful though... granted, it took me about two weeks as opposed to one day to find a new job... :) Lance and I have been praying for y'all, and I'm so happy to hear that the Lord took care of all of it!
