We've had one of those weekends where we've done absolutely nothing--except little things here and there that we wanted to do--and it's been great. I had nothing I had to do this weekend, so amongst all of our relaxing, I actually managed to get some things done like laundry and ironing and getting my oil changed, that I've been putting off for way too long. It's a nice feeling going into the week--especially when it's going to be a crazy "week before spring break" week like I have a sinking feeling this one is going to be--actually feeling rested and caught up on life. I'm enjoying it while I can!

On a whim, I cut four inches off of my hair this weekend. About two years ago I decided to quit hilighting my hair--because once I got married I (we) just couldn't justify how expensive it was!!--and dyed it what I was told was the exact color of my hair. Well, that didn't quite work out because as time wore on the sun, or something, lightened the dyed color and it turned into a blondish color much more so than brown. So, I've been growing it out for about 2 years and have been sporting the half and half look for a while. Gross. Anyway, I planned on going in for a trim yesterday but ended up cutting most of the blonde off. And it felt good! I'm still a little in shock of how short it is--four inches ended up being more than I remembered, haha!--and will probably be wearing it straight for a while because curly is is really short! But, at least it's all (mostly) my original color again! Yay!

Last night, in keeping with out tradition of not doing anything this weekend, we stayed in and grilled steaks and tried out a new shrimp recipe I've been wanting to make. We got the steaks from a local butcher shop by our house and they came out pretty good--I'm still trying to perfect my technique for cooking them medium rare, like Landon likes them. The last time I tried they were more like rare and this time they were a little more bordering on medium. Oh well--better than how they came out last time--at least I'm headed in the right direction! Anyone have any advice for telling when they are perfectly done for medium rare?? I'd love to hear your secrets!! Oh, and the shrimp recipe, which I got from www.thepioneerwoman.com , was delicious and I'd highly reccomend it if you're looking for something quick and easy and you like shrimp!! We had a feast and then laid around and read/played video games all night. Beautiful.

Today we did something we never do--that I don't think I've ever done. We didn't go to church this morning, for no good reason other than that we both crashed last night and forgot to set out clocks back so we woke up an hour late (something else I don't think I've ever done!) and were really tired because we'd been up late the night before. It made my whole day weird and I felt kinda guilty sleeping in, but it was so nice to be rested today. We had brunch plans with some of Landon's coworkers from the Texans so we slept in and then met them at Farrago's over off Gray St. It was good to see them and the food was delicious--brunch is wonderful for Landon and I because I LOVE breakfast food and he doesn't, so a bruch menu accomodates us both. He had pizza and I had spinach and feta souffle. Lovely. I'll have to think of a reason for us to go back sometime soon!

Five days until Spring Break! I never realized when I was in school how much my teachers looked forward to these breaks as much as I did as a student...

And now, as soon as Iron Chef is over, I'm off to bed. Have a great Monday!
