I know I've said it before, but I am so blessed to live near to family. I had lunch with my mom this Saturday morning and it was so fun. We just sat and talked and ate for a couple of hours (and then she even bought lunch for me to take home to Landon so he wouldn't miss out on that part!). It was nice just to have some girl time and to have some time to just catch up because so often when we hang out it's for an "event" which makes things busy. I think we need to make Saturday morning lunches a regular thing, Mom!
Oh, and speaking of family, my Dad ran his third half-marathon this weekend with two friends. They drove up the DFW and ran the Cowtown Half-Marathon in the freezing cold--and he ran it in 1:49, over 10 minutes faster than his last one! WOW. I am so impressed--go Dad! I wish I could run one that fast now, much less when I am his age!
After lunch with my mom Landon and I hung out together for a little while while he ate and then we got down to the business of getting our house ready to have our first family, our small group from church, over the dinner and some Wii. It was so much fun--we had almost all of our regular group there and then another couple that's a little newer to church. Landon set up our "big" table so we could all sit and eat together, and boy howdy, did we eat. There was SO much food--enchiladas and all the mexican food fixin's, macaroni and cheese, homemade chips, homemade cheesecake (that was delicious), cheery-o pie... Yes, we ate good. And then, as the conversations turned towards more girly things, the boys headed to the living room for a Wii tournament and the girls stayed and chatted it up. It was good to get to know everyone better and makes me look forward to future first family events.
I tried to get a few pictures, but it was really bad light (coupled with the "blue" light from the Wii), so they're a little dark/yellow/fuzzy. Oh well--focus on how they are documenting all the fun we're having! :)
I wish that I lived closer to my family. Relish the times you can spend with them. Also, I love the red wall in your dining area! I have a red wall in my kitchen/dining area too! Also, where did you get the big "Laugh"- did you paint it yourself, or where they stickers?
