Now my original plan was for me to take today off, since Friday would be the logical day to take a personal day, but Thursday ended up working out better for Landon, so I took yesterday off. And instead of relaxing by sleeping in and lying around the house and doing nothing (which was what I was totally planning on doing, truth be told), we got up and drove to DFW to just get out of town for a while and hang out with some friends. It was so fun and so rejuvenating. I love hanging out with people that you've known forever (or in this case, since college) because things are just so fun and relaxed and easy. We are so blessed to have friends that we can always just pick right up with like we've never left off, even if we haven't talked to them in a few weeks (or months!).
We took our time driving up there and entertained ourselves with good conversation, good music and lots of random picture taking as we were driving down the highway (ok, that was just me--Landon was being the adult and driving the car). So fun--and only slightly annoying to Landon! :)

Once we pulled into town Landon took me to lunch at Johnny Carino's (I'd forgotten how much I love their bread!) and we just piddled around town a little bit before we met up with Janeen and Steve, one of our good friends from ACU and her boyfriend. We got to see her cute new house and catch up for a while over some mid-afternoon snacks at Buffalo Wild Wings. And then, because I thought her house was so fun-looking (and because I don't have any recent pictures of them/us, we had a little mini photo shoot. I love how Emry, her dog, is staring at us longingly from inside the house--he wanted to come outside so badly! That evening we met up with Blake and Morgan at PF Changs for dinner and dessert (yes, our whole day basically involved food, and then you know we had to get the late night snacks as we filled up the car, to make the drive home!). As usual, we had so much fun talking and laughing the night away with them that I totally forgot to take a picture. How lucky am I that my husband's best friend married someone so fun and that we all get along so well. I love how God works things out like that!
And from there, we headed home. It was just what I needed--a day to get away from everything and enjoy some good food, good friends and good time with my husband. Thanks for playing hooky with me babe! Let's do it again next year!

Oh--and on a completely unrelated note, I finished Sacred Marriage yesterday, which is probably one of the best books on Christian spirituality I've read in a long time, and am now reading this:
Happy Friday!
