And then, many years later, I became a middle school reading teacher. And now I teach kids how to read and try to find them books that will help them fall in love with reading as much as I did at their age.
And recently, I have found another series of books have have made me fall in love with reading all over again. Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion series. Oh. My Gosh. The writing is wonderful, the story is AWESOME and it makes me want to know God more and live more fully for him. The fictional characters in the book inspire me and make me think and give insight into what life was life for Christians around the time Jesus was on Earth. I am just in love with it all around.
It's new and shiny and pretty. And it has a nice little box that you can keep the books in after you've read them. But the best part is the books themselves--and the fact that you can read all three in a row, instead of having to wait for the next one to come in the mail, like I did.
And, just because I feel like it, I'm also throwing in a copy of Angie Smith's new book, I Will Carry You, just because it's awesome.
It's the story of their baby, Audrey, who went to be with the Lord only a few hours after she was born. She's a wondeful writer and her story is beautiful. It made me laugh and cry and think and think about God and our relationships and interactions with him in new ways. Maybe you would want to read it, or maybe you know someone who's been through or is going through her same situation. Amazing book.
Giveaway ends Wednesday night at midnight. Winners will be chosen at random and announced sometime Thursday morning.
I have many favorite books. I have enjoyed every Nicholas Sparks book I have read. I love the Twilight Series and Harry Potter Series. As far as christian books go I love any book by Beverly Lewis. Probably my favorite christian fiction book has been Pretense by Lori Wick. My favorite Christian non fiction is "Faith of My Fathers" by Chris Seay. I have also enjoyed Blue Like Jazz.
ReplyDeleteI too love reading and, in fact, teach children's literature to librarians. I read lots of children and young adult books. One of my favorite series is the Mitford books by Jan Karon.
ReplyDeleteI have never been a big reader like you, but I do enjoy to read. I haven't read in a few years... since I had my kids but I think it would be nice to be able to set aside some time every day to sit down and read.
ReplyDeleteI love love love Janet Evanovich books she makes me laugh out loud and her books are very easy to read. I also love Nicholas Sparks and Dave Pelzer's books "A Child Called It" and "A Man Named Dave". I know I need to just pick up a book and start reading and I would love to read a book that will bring me closer to God. I also know that my sister would be interested in reading them so I can pass them along to her as I finish.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving this series of books so much to want someone else to be able to read them.
As a child i did not read even one book. I pretended i did, but i know the teachers knew the truth. The reason was at the time i could not concentrate and my comprehension was nil.
ReplyDeleteWhen Lantz was in college I found a book, ON TARA ROAD, and it taught me that I could read at my speed and I could comprehend what I was reading. So i them began reading for my enjoyment and have been reading ever since. To date my favorite book is REDEEMING LOVE. My aunt told me this would be a great book for me to read about 2 months before she died.
The night she was dying, which I didnt know at the time, I was reading, SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME. Guess what, she was dying with cancer also. On Friday night I started reading it and then on Saturday I just Couldnt quit till i finished it. That was a God thing!
