Good Friday and a work out crazy Saturday...

This weekend was a good weekend. It was one of those that was relaxing and not relaxing, all at the same time. There wasn't anything this weekend that we HAD to do, but we had a lot on our personal to do list. For some reason, that makes a difference to me. Having no other obligations to anyone other than ourselves makes is nice sometimes.

On Friday, we planned on getting up early and heading out to a lake by our house to get in some open water swimming practice, but decided that we rarely get to sleep in, so we should probably take advantage. :)

So, we instead slept in a little, had brunch with Landon's family so we could see his sister who was in town for Easter weekend, and then finally, around 1pm, headed over to the lake. It wasn't how we had planned on our morning going, but it was nice.

And, the lake at the swim was actually fun. I feel SO much less freaked out about future races now. It is AMAZING what a difference a wet suit makes. The water was probably about the same temperature, but thank goodness, this time I was actually able to swim and breathe. We swam all over the lake and while it still freaked me out a little when I was out in the middle of the lake all by myself and it was choppy, it was alright. I feel a lot better--and it was something new and fun for us to do. I think we'll probably be going back sometime to swim in the near future!

Then, after a smoothie to tide us over until dinner, we spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning out and organizing the garage! We have a big pile to donate and a big pile to set out by the curb and...we can now park BOTH cars in the garage! SUCCESS!! I love having a place for everything and everything in it's place. Our garage makes me happy!

Saturday was dedicated solely to working out and recovering. Because Landon had a 5 hour workout and I had a 3.5 hour workout. Really, sometimes I think we've lost our minds. Like, on Saturday morning we our alarms went off at 630am, I was definitely thinking that.

Landon had a 3.5 hour bike ride (all on hills) followed by a 30 minute swim followed by a 50 mile bike. He was just a few miles short of a 1/2 Ironman. He's a rockstar.

I had a 2 hour bike ride (with minimal hills) followed by a 68 minute run followed by a 25 minute swim. I ended up doing a Quarter Ironman--which is cool, since that's the race distance I have coming up in 3 weeks. It was hard, but I finished it, so that makes me feel better about the race.

And, I got to ride past bluebonnets like this along the bike path!

And, the rest of the day was devoted to reading, napping, cooking and eating spaghetti and getting caught up on 24. Good thing we have dogs devoted to napping all afternoon with us haha! All in all it was a beautiful day.
