Happy Halloween!

I am always so thankful for days like today. Even though things didn't exactly go as planned, we had a nice, relaxing day together--and we got most of the things done that we wanted to, and even did a few things we didn't plan on... like carving a pumpkin!

At about 5pm today, we decided it'd be fun to carve a pumpkin this year, which is something we'd never done together. So, after a quick trip to the store, we had this beauty sitting on our kitchen counter.

And, with about an hour and a half before we thought we'd get some kids at the door, we dove right in...so fun! :)

Landon cut the top off, all fancy-schmancy...

and then it was my job to scrape off the goo out of the inside

and separate out the pumpkin seeds to roast.

While I was working on the seeds, Landon started tracing our design onto the pumpkin

and we both took turns cutting it out.

The finished product--we thought it was pretty fun! :)

Our pumpkin sat out on our porch to welcome the kiddos to our house, and it must have worked because we definitely had more kids this year than last year (which isn't saying much, haha!). They were so cute in their little costumes.

And we enjoyed a relaxing night at home, listening for knocks on the door, eating homemade Chinese food, playing with the dogs, watching football (Landon) and scrapbooking our trip to Chicago (me).

And, the icing on the cake is that it's not really 1:14am as I type this...it's only 12:14am. This might be my favorite night of the year. :)

  1. Super cute pumpkin! We didn't carve one this year, and I'm really missing those pumpkin seeds!
