Well, we completed our first official week of our twenty-two week marathon training program today and our thirteenth week of running all together so far. We ran six miles this morning out at Eleanor Tinsley park, just to try somewhere new. It was beautiful and there were a lot of other runners out, which was fun, but it was sandy and hilly and I was struggling.
I know we've got four months still to go but I'm feeling frustrated because we've already been running for 2 months and I'm not doing as well as I had wanted to be doing, or as well as I had hoped/expected, pace wise, which makes me worried about how I'm going to do on the marathon. I struggled with running six miles today, after running pretty consistently for 2 months, and that's only a quarter of a marathon! Not good.
There have been days though that I haven't struggled as much with getting through 6 miles though, so I'm not sure if my problem lately is physical or mental. My guess is probably some of both. I'm looking forward to this summer where I can focus on doing some good cross-training in addition to the running, to build my cardio, and some weight-training to gain some strength. I'm hoping that will help.
And I'm hoping that next Saturday, when we have to run six miles again, and this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, when we have to run three, I'll really push myself and not doubt that I can do it and that I'll actually do better.
On a happier note, I need to brag on Landon for just a moment. He is doing AWESOME. Seriously. He can meet every time goal we set and he is so encouraging to me and could probably even beat our time goals if I wasn't there. I am so proud of him and so impressed by his running ability. I thought I was the runner in the family, but I was wrong! :) I love you babe--keep it up!
