Well, we tried. This week we were supposed to run ten miles, which was kinda a big one in my head--first in the double digits--but we only made it five. We had a crazy, busy weekend so the only time we could find to go running was squeezing it in between the charity even we had for his firm that morning and my brother's senior luau at church that evening. Right in the middle of the day: about 3pm. And it was HOT and windy; on the way back the weatherman on KSBJ said it was 92 degrees outside. We ran five miles in this area that was not shady at all and was kinda hilly and we were just dying--MUCH more so than usual. And because we were dying, we were running slower and running out of time, if we wanted to make it to the luau on time. So at the halfway point, our waterbreak, we huffed and puffed up the hill, stopped for a drink of water and decided to call it quits.
I was bummed at first, because I'd been looking forward to having run (not the actual running it part, but the being done with it part) ten miles. But alas, our time will come again. We start our "official" marathon training next week and in about a month our long run will be ten miles again, so we'll get another go at it. And this time, we won't run in the middle of the day. :)
